Proofing
A proof is an excellent way to check the exact color, tone and detail of a printed
image on a small size print reducing the cost of producing large prints that require
exact color tone or detail. While the print calibration methods employed maintain
the print and display monitors in our studio calibrated to the highest standards
which enable the most accurate prints to be made there are times when the normal
slight errors in color or tone can not be tolerated. For these situations a print
proof is recommended. Print proofing is recommended for all critical image reproduction.
If you have to have exact color and tone to your specifications this is the best
way to achieve it without running expensive full size prints.
The print proof consists of two copies of your image on an 8.5 x 11 in. sheet of
the same paper as your full size work. On the sheet is the complete image printed
to fit in a 5x7 in. space showing the entire work to assess color and tone. A second
image is printed again in a 5x7 in space but is a detail printed at the final works
resolution to enable the judgment of sharpness at the final print size. The proof
print is priced at $30 and as long as we are making progress towards an acceptable
final image we will keep proofing at no additional charge until the client is satisfied.
